... Information for Public Bodies |
A Government Department or Public Body in any EU member state may apply
for .eu domain names during either of the two Sunrise periods (commencing
7th December 2005). Applications may be queued with accredited registrars
prior to and during this four month period, affording such bodies an early
chance to protect their names before open and unrestricted registration
begins in April. The vast majority of such applications are expected to
be processed during the first few hours of registry operation so we recommend
that bodies submit their applications as soon as possible, certainly before
the start of the second Sunrise period when other classes of application
will be allowed. |

How
does a Public Body register their domain(s) ?
|
|
All .eu
applications whether by public bodies or other rights holders must be
routed via an accredited .eu registrar such as Irish Domains. Public
body applications received prior to or during the Sunrise periods will
be queued and processed the same way as for other applications. Supporting
documentation will be required in order to substantiate the domain name
being requested.

Public
Body Definitions
|
|
Public
body applications for .eu domains will be validated by a Government
Validation Point (GVP) in each member state. In Ireland, the GVP is
ComReg (www.comreg.ie) and they will verify all Public Body Sunrise
requests once the application
and supporting documentation has been received and processed by EURid.
For the
purpose of .eu registration, public bodies are classified as follows:
- Institution/body
of the European Union
- National
government or governmental body
- Local
government or governmental body
- Public
authority governed by public law
- Organisation/body
governed by public law
- International
organisation
- Intergovernmental
organisation
- Other
public body
... please
download and read the ComReg document below for exact requirements.

Submitting
Supporting Documentation
|
|
Supporting
documentation is not required at time of application. However it must
be received by the registry processing agents within 40 days of the
acknowledgement of the application by EURid. Documents should
not be sent to Irish Domains or to ComReg. The acknowledgement
email will contain a link to download a cover page to accompany the
documentation - this will contain the address to send the documents
to. For public body applications, the supporting documentation must
include the form provided by ComReg for this purpose (this form is included
in the ComReg document referenced above).
|
| Please
note that the registrant (and/or their agent) is solely responsible for
ensuring that correct and appropriate supporting documentation is received
by the processing agents. |

Pricing
Information
|
|
The fee
charged by Irish Domains for submitting each .eu Sunrise I or II application
by a public body is EUR 99 + VAT. This fee includes all registry processing
fees and also includes the registration of the domain for 1 year if
successful. This fee must accompany the application unless otherwise
arranged.
The application
fee is not refundable once the application is received by EURid irrespective
of whether or not the application succeeds. Please note also that there
is no guarantee that any particular Sunrise or Landrush application
will be successful due to the possibility of competing applications,
rejection by validation agents or dispute resolution procedures initiated
by third parties. However if you fail to register your domain, a credit
will be applied allowing you to register another .eu name during open
registration.
